Valentine Card Ideas: How to Choose the Right Embellishment
Valentine’s Day is a wonderful occasion for giving your loved ones handmade greeting cards but coming up with Valentine card ideas all by yourself is not always easy.
After all, you want your card to be special and something your loved ones will always treasure.
Choosing the right motif or embellishment for your Valentine card is the key to a great card. Your embellishment generally becomes the focal point of your card and the element that stands out the most, so think carefully about what you want to use.
The scrapbooking industry always makes sure we have plenty of different Valentines Day embellishments to choose but do not let yourself be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices.
Choosing your embellishments can be a lot of fun, but also a little daunting. The most important thing to remember when choosing the right embellishment for your Valentine card idea is that you are looking for something that will suit your card design and that the recipient of your card will love.
Embellishments come in many forms. You can choose from die-cuts, stickers, epoxy or acrylic stickers, three-dimensional stickers, chipboard shapes, rub-ons, buttons, sequins, ribbons, scraps of fabric, stamped images, brads, eyelets, snaps or even handmade embellishments you can purchase from other crafters or make yourself.
Traditional Valentines card motifs include red love hearts (although, why restrict yourself to red?), cupid, doves, teddy bears and red roses. All of these work well with any Valentine card ideas.
But, if you are looking for something a little different or more personalised, why not consider incorporating your recipient’s interests or hobbies into your card motifs.
For example, if your special someone loves to travel, maybe you could use the image of a compass with a heart in the middle and the words “My heart always points to you.” Or if your special someone is a baseball fan, you might include an image of a baseball bat and a heart-shaped baseball.
Almost any theme can be easily adapted to suit a Valentines Day card. All you need to do is to work in a little heart or two and your Valentines Day message will be crystal clear.
Whether you stick to the traditional motifs or come up with your own unique Valentine card ideas, your recipients are sure to love the results!
